Safety Harbor
Nestled on the western shore of Tampa Bay, the small city of Safety Harbor offers a relaxing atmosphere with scenic waterfront parks, historic sites, and a walkable main street full of shops, galleries, and charming eateries, all in close proximity to the major West Central Florida cities of St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and Tampa.
Along the town’s glistening waterfront, visitors will find plenty to do at the family-friendly parks, boardwalk, marina, and fishing pier as well as luxurious accommodations at Safety Harbor Resort & Spa, a historic landmark and site of “Espiritu Santo Springs,” mineral springs that Hernando de Soto once believed to be the Fountain of Youth. Today, guests can immerse themselves in Florida’s only natural mineral spring-filled pools and indulge and relax at the resort’s 50,000-square-foot spa.
With a diverse selection of restaurants, independent shops and boutiques, and galleries, Safety Harbor’s bustling downtown has something for everyone in the family. After a day of exploring and shopping, Crooked Thumb Brewery’s beer garden is the perfect place to unwind with a craft beer and listen to live music, and for visitors traveling with four-legged family members, the Neighborhood BarK[1] boutique and off-leash dog bar is a must-see.
Art lovers and history buffs will want to check out the Safety Harbor Museum & Cultural Center, Syd Entel Galleries, and Safety Harbor Art and Music Center to see fine art, take classes, and catch live performances. Visitors can view a piece of Native American history at the 92-acre Philippe Park, Pinellas County’s oldest park, home to the Tocobaga Temple Mound.
