Port St. Joe
The little bayfront town of Port St. Joe, about 45 minutes southeast of Panama City on Florida’s Northwest Coast, is big on character and seaside charm. A fishing and boating haven, Port St. Joe offers visitors a compact, walkable downtown with independent restaurants and shops, a pristine shoreline, and plenty of fun ways to spend time outdoors.
Stroll the historic downtown, much of which is pet-friendly, check out the boutiques, and stop by the Gulf County Welcome Center for a sample of Tupelo honey, visitor guide, and coffee. Choose from a variety of fun and fresh eateries like Sisters’ Bistro, Quatro Locos Tacos and Cantina, and Krazyfish Grille.
Outdoor recreation can be found in many forms here. Spend time at St. Joe Beach and look across the bay to glimpse T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park in the distance. Go for a bike ride or walk on the paved four-mile Port City Trail, and take the 0.7-mile gravel Bay Walk Trail along the shoreline of St. Joe Bay.
See the Cape San Blas Lighthouse at George Core Park, learn about Florida history at Constitution Convention Museum State Park, and watch the calendar for events including Blast on the Bay Songwriters’ Festival and Forgotten Coast Sea Turtle Festival.
