Green Cove Springs
Nestled on the banks of the St. Johns River 30 miles south of Jacksonville, Green Cove Springs is a Northeast Florida gem with a lively downtown full of family-friendly things to do and plenty of ways to enjoy the water.
Along the waterfront, visitors can find everything needed for a day of outdoor fun. At the 150-acre Camp Chowenwaw Park, located north of town near the confluence of Black Creek and the St. Johns River, families can hike, camp, fish, paddle, splash in the pool, and visit the park’s museum, nature center, and pollinator garden. From nearby Black Creek Marina, boaters can fuel up and purchase bait before heading out to the St. Johns River.
In the heart of town, riverfront Spring Park, which features a swimming pool fed by a natural spring, is where many of the community’s special events take place, including Green Cove Springs Riverfest in May and the weeklong CalaVida Music & Arts Festival in April. The park also hosts ongoing events such as 3rd Saturday Market in the Park and Green Cove Springs Food Truck Friday.
A number of eateries can be found within a short walking distance of Spring Park, including Spring Park Coffee, Sweet Sensations Café, La Casita Mexican Restaurant, and Roger That Wings & Things.
