Perry
Tucked into the Big Bend region, roughly between Tallahassee and Gainesville, the small town of Perry exemplifies the virtues and allures of rural Florida. Visitors craving outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and boating will enjoy themselves in Perry. The Econfina River and Forest Capital Museum State Parks are close to town. In addition, acknowledging that Perry and this part of Florida was "built" by the forestry industry, homage is paid at Forest Capital Museum State Park, south of town on Highway 19. Each year in October, the Florida Forest Festival brings Perry to a halt for a lumberjack show, steam engine displays, arts and crafts, and demonstrations of cane grinding, butter churning, blacksmithing, soap making, along with the World's Largest Free Fish Fry.
