Spring Hill
Situated 50 minutes north of Tampa, Spring Hill makes up much of the southwestern portion of Hernando County, also known as Florida’s Adventure Coast for its wealth of opportunities for outdoor adventure
Though this unincorporated community has more than 100,000 people, Spring Hill is home to abundant parks and green spaces, including the 11,000-acre Weekiwachee Preserve and one of Florida’s most scenic and iconic rivers, the Weeki Wachee, home of mermaids and manatees
At Weeki Wachee Springs State Park, visitors can see the famous Weeki Wachee mermaids perform in an underwater theater, swim in the spring and slide on the water slides at the park’s Buccaneer Bay beach, see wildlife shows, and more. Other favorite family-friendly activities in the area include picking blueberries at local farms, visiting the beach at Pine Island Park, and riding bikes on the 54-mile paved Suncoast Trail. The Nature Coast Botanical Gardens and Nursery welcomes visitors to explore the gardens free of charge.
When it comes to eating and drinking, Breakfast Station’s savory and sweet offerings, Nouvelle Cuisine’s upscale Belgian-French cuisine, and the riverside Upper Deck Cafe’s seafood and wings are all popular choices. At Marker 48 Brewing, patrons can enjoy craft brews along with live entertainment and food truck fare, and visitors can taste award-winning wines and tour the vineyard at Strong Tower Vineyard & Winery.
