A friend of mine recently made a big deal out of a newspaper story he read about a proposed RV park in the town of Margate. It is expected to be South Florida's first luxury RV park, complete with a nine-hole golf course.
He couldn't believe there would be an RV park in Florida with a golf course. I gave him a look and calmly pointed out that Florida is the home of several RV parks with golf courses. He was stunned. A lot of people are.
But, it's true. Here are a few of Florida's RV parks with golf courses:
- Clerbrook RV Resort is in Lake County, in the rolling hills of central Florida. The park has a short, 18-hole course, a par 67 that includes two par-5s. It also has a driving range, putting greens and instructors.
- Great Outdoors Resort in Titusville has an 18-holer designed by Ron Garl. It's 6,542 yards, with paved cart paths, wooden bridges. It's a parkland course with plenty of wildlife, a lighted range, 15-hole putting green and chipping area, full-service bar and restaurant.
- Deer Creek RV Golf Resort in North Davenport has an 18-hole executive course, a par-60 with six par-4s and a $2 million clubhouse.
