PALM COAST BEACH
Where
Palm Coast’s main beach is Varn Park, located at 3665 S Ocean Shore Blvd, Palm Coast, FL 32136. Palm Coast also encompasses Jungle Hut Park at 125 Jungle Hut Road, Palm Coast, FL 32137, but due to rocks in the surf and strong undercurrents, it isn’t well suited for swimming.
Vibe
Varn Park is a quiet, hidden gem that’s a favorite with birdwatchers, fishermen and families.
See, feel
Free parking and a colorful restroom mark the entry to this serene park, immediately next to dunes that bristle with cabbage palms. The boardwalk spans the dunes, which form a “dune cliff” before they tumble away to the beach.
The coarse sand is a stunning, rich cinnamon color, framing the cerulean Atlantic. When you look toward the shore, no high rises block the views. Instead, you’ll see a few houses and stretches where the dunes and sky are the sole backdrop.
Expect some waves, which will vary depending on tides, the wind, and offshore systems.
On or near the beach
Surf fishing is popular here, and often fisherman can be seen casting for blues, whiting, flounder, and snapper. It’s also an outstanding spot for shorebird observation, in addition to "line" birds -- particularly scrub jays -- that visit the overhead wires between the park north to the Matanzas Inlet.
Accessibility
Varn Park offers wheelchair access to the beach, and ample parking that includes ADA-compliant spaces.
Facilities
Picnic area, restroom facilities, and outdoor showers.
Lifeguards
There are no lifeguards; swim at your own risk.
Parking
Ample, and free.
