Famed throughout the world, Haulover Beach boasts abundant parking, as well as restrooms, concessions, rentals, and a generous sandy beach sprawled against the shores of the Atlantic. But the main reason this family-friendly beach is renowned is for something it doesn’t have: the requirement to wear clothes. Most of Florida’s naturist beaches are tucked away on primitive, relatively remote shores, but not so with Haulover Beach. Located in Miami Beach, Haulover Beach celebrates its status as Florida’s best-known and oldest officially recognized public nude beach. In addition, it’s regularly ranked as one of the Top 10 nude beaches worldwide.

Read on to discover what it offers.

A Natural Escape Along the Coast

Just a few miles north of Miami Beach, between Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles Beach, Haulover Beach Park is home to the largest remaining stretch of undeveloped beachfront in Miami-Dade County. Reaching 1.4 miles along the Atlantic coast, this popular beach park draws visitors from around the world with its soft white sand, rolling ocean surf, scenic coastal vegetation, and wide variety of outdoor activities.

Safe Swimming and Beach Amenities

The park’s swimming areas are protected by lifeguards year-round, and visitors can check current weather and surf conditions before heading into the water. Haulover is also known for its internationally recognized clothing-optional beach section, which maintains a family-friendly atmosphere and is staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who help visitors understand beach etiquette.

Picnics, Fishing, and Waterfront Fun

Food and drink concessions are available throughout the park, along with beach chair and umbrella rentals for a relaxing day by the shore. Picnic areas with tables and grills are scattered throughout the grounds and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while covered shelters can be reserved ahead of time. With access to the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal Waterway, and Baker’s Haulover Cut, anglers can hook into both offshore and shoreline fishing fun.

Kite Flying and Dog-Friendly Adventures

On breezy days, kite flying becomes one of the park’s most colorful attractions thanks to the friendly team at Skyward Kites, which has been helping families enjoy the pastime for more than 20 years. Dog lovers will also appreciate the park’s pet-friendly features, including beach access for dogs during designated daily hours and a bark park that remains open year-round. Whether visitors come for the waves, fishing, picnicking, kite flying, or simply relaxing in the sunshine, Haulover Beach Park offers something for just about everyone.

Helpful Tips for Busy Beach Days

During the summer season and holiday weekends, the busiest time is typically Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Planning ahead can help visitors avoid heavy traffic and possible parking lot closures.
