Here’s your go-to guide for finding trails, rides, events, and safety information.
Trails and Maps
- Rails to Trails Conservancy: Provides a map and trail-finder app for locating Florida trails-- more than 212 of them, covering 1921 miles. There are currently 65 Florida rail-trails covering 905 miles, with more in the works.
- Bike Florida: This handy site has filters that let you search for trails in specific regions of Florida; highlights trails such as the Blackwater Heritage State Trail and the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail; and offers organized, supported multiday rides across the state.
- Office of Greenways and Trails: Features information on over 1,300 existing recreational trails located in the state of Florida; the Florida Bike Touring and State Trail Camping guide; the Florida trail town program; and links to every imaginable resource.
- Miami LOOP: This proposed 235-mile trail network is already 58 percent complete, and will weave together Downtown Miami, museums, cultural centers, the Port of Miami, Homestead Motor Speedway and two national parks, including Biscayne and Everglades.
Safety, Laws, and Education
- Florida Bicycle Association: Offers resources on cycling laws and safety tips.
- FDOT Pedestrian and Bicycling Safety Resource Center: Provides safety materials, helmets, and offers the "Bicycle Safer Journey" educational video series, geared towards different ages and available in Spanish.
- WalkWise Florida: This grassroots initiative provides innovative pedestrian safety education, and links to resources across Florida and the U.S.
- Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow: A Florida-focused pedestrian and bicycle safety initiative, focusing on law enforcement, driver and biker education, and emergency medical services. Education services include challenging quizzes, digital media, and information for adult and kid cyclists.
Organizations and Advocacy
- Florida Bicycle Association (FBA): Offers a Bicycle Infrastructure Assistance (BIA) program to aid communities in improving bike safety and accessibility. This includes providing technical and strategic support to regional and local bicycle advocates seeking improved infrastructure conditions as well as serving as a liaison between advocates and road agencies including Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
- Bike Florida: Focuses on bicycle touring and promoting bicycle tourism.
- Florida State Parks: Many parks – 111 currently-- provide dedicated, safe biking opportunities.
