WEST PALM BEACH
Where
Since the city of West Palm Beach is located on the mainland, it doesn’t encompass any beaches. However, just across the bridge, the island of Palm Beach is home to the Town of Palm Beach Municipal Beach, located just north of Worth Avenue on South Ocean Blvd., Palm Beach, FL 33480. Here’s information about other area beaches.
Vibe
Hot spot for the rich and famous with easy access to restaurants and shops. Undeniably upscale, this glorious beach promises a playground of waves and sand. It’s sited across the street and just north of famous Worth Avenue, a social hub featuring a luxe tapestry of boutiques, al fresco dining, and spoil-you-silly hotels. It’s popular and can be crowded.
See, feel
Coconut palms and benches line the boardwalk at Municipal Beach, inviting you to take a seat and admire the fine-grained, cocoa colored sand and sparkling blue surf, just beyond the salmon-pink wave wall and curving dunes. Here, you can stand under the arch of the white, weathered Worth Avenue clock tower for an epic selfie with the Atlantic as a backdrop; work on perfecting your tan; let the kids splash in the waves; or embark on a treasure hunt for seashells. You’re likely to see families, couples, groups of friends, and, if you wander down Worth Avenue, possibly a celebrity. Expect some waves, which will vary according to tides, winds, and offshore systems. Expect some surfers, as well.
On or near the beach
Sunning, swimming, and hunting for seashells are all high on the list of ways to enjoy Palm Beach. Surfers, take note: This mile-long stretch of waves rivals Lake Worth Pier’s title as the most consistent surf spot in South Florida.
Accessibility
Palm Beach Municipal Beach doesn’t have accessible amenities. Here’s a list of Palm Beach County’s most accessible beaches and their amenities.

Benches on the boardwalk are the park’s only amenities.
Lifeguards
Yes. Swimming areas are guarded when a condition flag is flying from the lifeguard tower year-round, seven days a week, from 9 a.m. – 5:20 p.m. Guard availability may change without notice, so look for the condition flag before swimming. Here’s a map of guarded area beaches.
