VENICE

Where

Venice boasts 14 miles of beaches, including Caspersen Beach, North Brohard Park, Nokomis Beach, and even more. Venice Beach is the city’s most popular stretch of coastline, located at  101 The Esplanade, Venice, FL 34285.

Vibe

Hunt for fossilized, prehistoric shark teeth in the Shark Tooth Capital of the World, a family-friendly beach set next to a charming village. Venice Beach promises a kicked-back mood, convenient amenities and epic sunsets over the Gulf of America.

See, feel

Free parking, lush greenery and a forest of palms greet visitors to Venice Beach, along with a unique “sail” style pavilion, an iconic landmark built in 1964. Certified as a Blue Wave Beach, a mark of cleanliness and good management, Venice Beach is a treat for the eyes. Its boardwalks and crossovers span rolling dunes, with seagrapes and sea oats pushing against the trails. Bright lifeguard stands and volleyball courts are set atop its cocoa-colored sands, heaped with shells and replete with gulls, terns and shorebirds. Oftentimes, a sailboat will float offshore, or a powerboat will cut a path through the waves, adding to the tropical ambience. The waters, a dreamy turquoise hue, are usually calm, but can occasionally be rougher due to winds, tides, or offshore systems.

On or near the beach

Sharks produce 20,000-25,000 teeth over their lifetime, a fact you can appreciate at Venice Beach, where visitors can look for fossils as well as reef dive a mere quarter-mile from shore. Plant your beach umbrella and soak up the sun; swim; bird watch; or refuel at the concession. Entertainment, shops and eateries are only steps away: Venice Beach is within walking distance to award-winning downtown Venice.

Accessibility

Beach Wheelchairs are available to the public at no cost, year round; check with the lifeguard. Venice Beach also offers beach access mats, a nonslip, semi-rigid, stable rollout pathway, perfect for wheelchair accessibility.

Facilities

Amenities at Venice Beach include picnic facilities; restrooms; shelters; two sand volleyball courts; and a concession open for lunch and dinner, serving up fare like hotdogs, hamburgers and fries. The concession also sells beach gear. Ray’s Rentals offers chairs and umbrellas.
