Vibe

Upscale, serene and stunningly beautiful, Ponte Vedra Beach offers a chance to connect with nature and hunt for sharks’ teeth on the unique pink coquina sand. Couples, groups of friends, surfers, families and even dogs are frequent visitors. It’s often busy near the entrance of Mickler’s Beach, but peaceful if you wander down the shore a bit.

See, feel

The sand has a rosy blush to it, bleaching to a whiter hue by the dunes. It’s hard-packed but has loads of shells in it, so bring appropriate water shoes. Extravagant homes and dunes lush with sea oats add to the dreamy landscape. It’s the Atlantic, so expect some waves, which will vary depending on tides, the wind, and offshore systems.

On or near the beach

Low tide creates intriguing tide pools for the kids as well as the best opportunity to hunt for seashells and sharks’ teeth. Here’s surfing information. For an classic outdoor adventure, go on a kayak expedition at Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, where the saltwater marsh and mangrove tidal wetlands are home to abundant wildlife.

Accessibility

You can drive on Mickler’s Beach (with cooperative beach and weather conditions) so you can easily get your gear out to a spot by the waves.
