INDIAN SHORES

Where

Here are public beach accesses and parks in Indian Shores, including their addresses and amenities.  Tiki Gardens Beach Access, located at 19601 Gulf Blvd., Indian Shores, FL 34635, is a favorite option.

Vibe

Off-the-beaten path relaxation.

A landscaped beach access with generous parking, showers and restrooms, Tiki Gardens is all about kicking back. Common sights include families splashing in the gentle surf, dolphins just offshore, and stunning sunsets.

See, feel

Once the site of a South Seas Polynesian theme park (complete with exotic birds and monkeys), today Tiki Gardens lures visitors with the promise of smooth, white sand and crystalline, emerald-hued waters. Rarely crowded, the water here is shallow and tranquil, with a gradually sloping bottom that makes it inviting for families and timid swimmers.

The beach is wide, and it’s a bit of a walk from the parking lot, so consider bringing a wagon or tote to get your gear to the shore.

While the water’s usually calm, winds, tides and offshore systems can occasionally cause rough conditions.

On or near the beach

Swimming, catching some rays, and walking along the shore are time-honored ways to spend the day at Tiki Gardens. To up the energy, rent a paddleboard, skim board or kayak from Green Iguana. Anglers can fish from the shore for catches like grouper, snapper, Spanish mackerel, and kingfish.

Accessibility

You’ll find free ADA parking in the lot. Immediately north of the park and accessible from the park’s lot, at 196th Ave. West, a mobility mat is installed, offering wheelchair access to the beach.

Facilities

Amenities at Indian shores include restrooms, a water fountain, beach showers, and a pedestrian crossing light at Gulf Boulevard. Green Iguana, a mere two minutes from the park, offers sports equipment, beach chair and umbrella rentals, and they deliver. In addition, five minutes north, Island Surf Shops rents beach bikes, skim boards and stand up paddleboards.

Lifeguards

There are no lifeguards; swim at your own risk.

Parking

Indian Shores offers a 170-space parking area, located directly across the street from the park. A pedestrian crossing light at Gulf Boulevard allows for safety. Here’s information about parking costs in the metered lot.
