Vibe

At this 340-acre outdoor wonderland, surfers and wind surfers share the beach with swimmers. Rarely crowded, it’s beloved by adventurers, fishermen, birdwatchers and everyone who needs a dose of vitamin D and salt water. The jetty is the place to surf and fish.

See, feel

Sandy walkways curve through the sea oats to the shore, revealing a rich, cocoa-colored beach bordered by the sometimes turquoise-hued ocean, almost always rolling with white-capped waves. The sand provides a firm footing in the water. The coastline is natural and magnificent. The waves will vary depending on tides, the wind, and offshore systems.

On or near the beach

This half-mile beach is a watery playground, inviting visitors to swim, snorkel, surf and scuba dive. But kicked-back is fine, too: you can beachcomb, picnic, or just relax to the melody of the surf. Once a training site for World War II Navy Frogmen, Dynamite Point is now an oasis for bird-watchers. At the southern tip the park, Fort Pierce Inlet is the favorite spot for anglers to catch their dinners.
And Jack Island Preserve, sited a mile north of the park, offers trails for hiking, bicycling and nature study. For blockbuster views of the Indian River and the island, journey to the west end of the Marsh Rabbit Run Trail, where you can climb an observation tower. Check out all of Fort Pierce Inlet Park’s amenities and experiences.
