The Capital City to the Sea Trails is a group of trails in Northwest Florida connecting Tallahassee to Woodville, Wakulla Station, Sopchoppy, Mashes Sands, St. Marks, Panacea, and the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge.
Counties: Leon, Wakulla, Franklin
Trails included: Capital Cascades Trail, Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail, Ochlockonee Bay Bike Trail, Coastal Trail, Georgia Florida & Alabama Trail
Total miles: 61 miles currently and 114 when complete.
Difficulty: Beginner to advanced, depending on the duration of the trip.
Terrain: Mostly paved. Once complete, the Georgia Florida & Alabama Trail will be the only trail where users may be on the road with vehicle traffic.
Features: The Coastal Trail offers scenic boardwalk views. Portions of this trail system pass boat ramps for paddling trails. The paved Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail, which is 20.5 miles long, is family-friendly, dog-friendly, and wheelchair-accessible.
Points of interest: St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, Bald Point State Park, San Marcos de Apalache Historic State Park
Best time of year to visit: October through April for cooler weather and lower chances of rain and thunderstorms. Winter is the best time of year to spot manatees at Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park.
