Whenever I drive from Orlando to Tampa, my favorite road stop is just off of I-4 in Plant City, at Parkesdale Farm Market.
There might be one other stop at the next exit up for coffee at a popular chain (you know, the one with the green mermaid logo), but this is where I go to satisfy my sweet tooth. They're the largest strawberry and citrus market in Florida and are known for having the best strawberry shortcake in the state. When strawberries are in season (like inow) I'll even fill up my trunk with strawberries to take home. Seriously, that photo you see here is of my fridge.
So next time you're road-trippin' through Central Florida or on your way home from the Florida Strawberry Festival, be sure to stop by this family-owned market for a sweet treat. Plug in their address below and don't be afraid to venture off the highway a bit. It's well worth it and the folks in Plant City are the friendliest you'll meet.
