St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museumvia Facebook Concert Under the Light was held last night with Matt Armstrong playing a variety of folk and bluegrass music along with original tunes. Weather couldn't have cooperated better with a gentle breeze coming off the ocean. Encampment at the Fountain of Youth Park: 10 am-5 pm Re-enactment of the raid starts at 7 pm the City Gate and continues to the Plaza de la Constitución. Relive history as the English corsair, Sir Francis Drake, and his raiders return to St. Augustine in an authentic re-creation of the 1586 sack of the city. Open to the public, the raiders' camp at the Fountain of Youth Park features displays of the arms and armor, craft skills, and lifestyles of the period explained by costumed interpreters. In the late afternoon, Drake and his followers will descend on the city's historic district. Fort Mose Historic State Park will host Living History Days on the last Saturday of... More...
Fort Mose Historic State Park will host Living History Days on the last Saturday of the month of May 2012. Volunteers will be onsite in period dress offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into the past. Each living history program throughout the year will offer visitors a chance to discover a different topic. This month's program will focus on military manuvers and colonial weapon demonstrations. A theater preformance will also be included, with a mission presentation of Miguel Cevantes’ Siege of Numancia adapted to Saint Augustine on June 25, 1740. In addition to the demonstration, the park's weekly guided ranger tour will be offered to visitors at 11:00am for those who wish to participate. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and bring insect repellant, as the program will be held outdoors. Program is weather permitting.
