The city of Cocoa, along Florida’s eastern Space Coast, offers an inviting history of its own, and it serves as a launching pad for tours of the nearby Kennedy Space Center. Downtown Cocoa encompasses a treasure known as Historic Cocoa Village. On the west side of the Banana River, Historic Cocoa Village is the oldest part of town. Sections of cobblestone streets date to the 1890s, as do buildings such as the 1916 Porcher House and the still active 1924 Cocoa Village Playhouse. Found here are several dozen boutiques and gift shops, plus antique stores, sidewalk cafes and art galleries -- and a bounty of street festivals and parties.
