Planning a visit to Florida? Be sure to stop by one of the state's Welcome Centers for information, maps and a free glass of Florida citrus juice.

Since 1949, millions of auto travelers entering Florida along the major thoroughfares have found a warm greeting at the Official Florida Welcome Centers. In addition to the traditional cup of complimentary Florida citrus juice, these visitors have found friendly, informative staff people and a vast assortment of brochures promoting all that the state has to offer.

Today, that half-century-long tradition continues at the Official Florida Welcome Centers located on I-10 west of Pensacola, U.S. 231 near Campbellton (also near Marianna), I-75 at Jennings (near Lake City) and I-95 north of Yulee (near Jacksonville). A fifth center is located at the west entrance of the State Capitol Building in Tallahassee. Each center is staffed by personnel who have undergone rigorous training to receive national Information Specialist certification. Along with in-person information, Welcome Center visitors learn about the state’s diverse destinations.

In an effort to build on the success of our hospitality and demonstrate our desire to further welcome visitors traveling with small children, each of the four highway Welcome Centers has a designated area for visitors traveling with children. Some of he VISIT FLORIDA Kid's Corner offers a "play" area to educate and entertain the children while the parents get the travel information they need from the Welcome Center staff.

The Official Florida Welcome Centers also provide Official Florida Transportation Maps to all visitors.

Our highway Welcome Centers offer clean, well maintained restroom facilities and all are handicapped accessible. Vending machines and payphones are on-site. Designated areas in each parking lot accommodate large bus, RV and truck parking.

No overnight parking is allowed. However, about 12 miles south of the welcome center is Pecan Park camp ground. Take exit 366.

Hi Nolen, The closest Florida Welcome Center to Atlanta is on I-75, approximately 243 miles if you go south on I-75, or the I-95 Welcome Center is approximately 303 miles away, depending on the route you take. Enjoy your trip!

Are there any great rentals at super great prices for Destin or Panama City? Several years ago we stopped in at a Florida Welcome Station and the person gave us a wonderful offer on a rental which resulted in us going back to the same place the next year! I am hoping to have the same luck this year!

Hi Vicki - About the map, you might want to check with the folks at the Pensacola Convention & Visitors Bureau (http://www.visitpensacola.com/) or the Beaches of South Walton CVB (http://www.beachesofsouthwalton.com/) - they might have a better idea if there is a map like that. Also, try Google Maps and Google Earth - you can create a map and print it out with the information you need. Thanks!

I purchased a package through Trips Incentives. I was told to visit the florida welcome center at 5100 N state Rd. Ft. Lauderdale and they would give us vouchers to the resort and directions. This is very different than what Im use to. So I was wondering if this is something that takes place occasionally. We were told we would get info to the resort we are staying at when we arrive there. That is unacceptable. We would like to plan our days out before we arrive and would like to know some attractions the resort has to offer. please notify me if this is a scam or something.Sincerly Ms. Camp

Stopped at your I-95 Welcome Center to be routed to The Villages. Was routed to Rt. 10 to Rt. 301. Was not told it is a speed trap. People at The Villages said they know about it. Called the AAA and they said they do not route people through 301.There are 3 towns that are speed traps one of which is the town of Lawtey. I am dissapointed in their directions. We could have taken Rt. 75 to avoid it. We did go home through 75. This is the first ticket my husband got in 46 years for going 10 miles over the limit. It is hard to slow down from 55 to 45 mph when the signs are a few yards apart.
