| Description |
|
| Tarpon Springs was incorporated in 1887, largely by Greek immigrants who developed the region’s sponge-diving industry. The atmosphere in this Pinellas County city is still heavily Greek, as evidenced by the shops and eateries lining the sponge docks. A mile away, Tarpon’s downtown serves up restaurants, galleries, and antique stores. Visit St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, an exact replica of St. Sophia Cathedral in Constantinople. |
