Florida has no shortage of places to take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes and gaze out over a blue ocean, but Fort Pierce Inlet is something special. With a paved bike path, wildlife viewing, snorkeling and scuba diving, the park is also one of the best surfing spots on the east coast — and the Oak Hammock Trail leads visitors through one of the few remaining oak hammocks on a South Florida barrier island.
