Blackwater River State Park, about a half-hour drive from Pensacola, is a favorite Florida destination for canoeing, kayaking, tubing, hiking, swimming, fishing and camping.

The Blackwater's pure sandy bottom, white beaches and large sandbars contrast beautifully with the dark tannic water that gives the river its name. A nearby rental outfitter can set you up with canoes, kayaks or tubes if you don’t bring your own.

Stroll two nature trails that wend their way through more than 600 acres of undisturbed natural beauty, highlighting terrain, plants and wildlife.

Pitch a tent or park your RV at one of 30 shaded or sunny campsites, nestled among longleaf pines and just a short walk from the river.

Dine under one of three picnic pavilions that provide overlooks of the flowing water.

Seek out one of the largest and oldest Atlantic white cedars, standing proudly among the many that line the river. This tree was recognized in 1982 as a Florida Champion tree.

Blackwater River State Park, adjoining the Blackwater River State Forest, was certified in 1980 as a Registered State Natural Feature, thanks to its reputation as an exceptional illustration of Florida's natural history.
