Heading to South Florida? Look, you know you can't party 24 hours a day. You have to take some time off, and that means hitting the golf course.
I've played a ton of golf in the Miami area, and here are some of my personal favorites.
Doral Golf Resort and Spa is the most glamorous golf resort in Florida, considering its location and history. The resort has five courses, including the famed Blue Monster and the new Jim McLean course, which I'll be playing this week. Look for my video of the resort in the near future.
Crandon Golf Club is a beautifully maintained, municipal golf course on Key Biscayne. It’s a pristine island environment, with seven saltwater lakes and views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. The course is replete with palms and mangroves and other tropical growth and has an assortment of exotic wildlife.
If you're a fan of the great golf architect Donald Ross, as I am, the Belleview Biltmore Hotel has a Ross course that officials at the hotel have refurbished close to the original. They completed a $1.5-million renovation a few years back and filled many of the more than 200 bunkers.
You can't go to Miami during Super Bowl week and not visit Shula's Hotel and Golf Club. Shula is an NFL legend, and the Senator course at his club underwent a $2-million renovation a couple years back.
More of my Miami favorites include: JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, Miami Beach Golf Club, and Miami Shores Country Club.
