This guide will put you on the glistening waters of West Palm Beach among yachts and mangroves, give your tastebuds a sampling of some of the best culinary creations in town, and have you gliding on a Segway as you take in the sights of the city.

Follow this Ultimate Land and Sea Adventure itinerary for a full day of exploring West Palm Beach, both on and off the water.

9 a.m. — Mangroves & Mansions kayak and/or paddleboard excursion
For this two-hour paddling tour though the Lake Worth Lagoon, you’ll begin in downtown West Palm Beach, where your guide will give you a short “Paddling 101” lesson before leading you on the water surrounding the mansions of West Palm Beach. You’ll paddle through mangroves and past important landmarks and interesting places, including the Flagler Museum, the historic Everglades Club, and Worth Avenue.

11:30 a.m. — Downtown West Palm Beach walking food tour
Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, it’s time to get back on land for a walking food tour of downtown West Palm Beach. This guided 2.5-hour experience involves 1.5 miles of easy walking and gives you a full introduction to the flavors of South Florida, with tastings at E.R. Bradley’s Saloon for grilled mahi fish tacos; the French bistro and popular brunch spot Pistache; Salento for Colombian coffee and pandebono; Kapow for a cocktail and sampling of their most popular dishes; and Ganache Bakery Cafe for some of the best key lime pie in town. There is also an optional cocktail package available for this tour.

2:30 p.m. — Guided Palm Beach Segway Tour
Take a break from walking and step aboard a Segway for a guided tour of West Palm Beach. On this easy adventure, you’ll roll through the streets and along the water. Glide past the Flagler Museum, Four Arts Gardens, Royal Poinciana Plaza, and other landmarks while taking in the beautiful scenery of the town and waterfront.

5 p.m. — Sunset catamaran cruise
Leave from the docks at Flagler Drive and Clematis Street aboard the 50-foot catamaran Hakuna Matata for a sunset adventure. Watch the skyline and cruise past yachts while listening to music and sipping a refreshing drink as the sun sets.

7 p.m. — Dinner in downtown West Palm Beach
In the evening, head to one of the many enticing restaurants in downtown West Palm Beach. For Southern cuisine, try Batch New Southern Kitchen & Tap or Sassafras, which promises to take guests to an “ole Southern French bayou” with its menu. For craft cocktails and small plates, try Avocado Grill.

9 p.m. — Rooftop bar night cap
Head up to one of the town’s rooftop bars and restaurants for a drink and a dazzling view of the city at night. Stop in at Treehouse on the 13th floor of the Canopy by Hilton West Palm Beach hotel or RH Rooftop Restaurant on the fourth floor of RH West Palm, an 80,000-square-foot design gallery.

West Palm Beach is an hour and 15 minutes north of Miami, 30 minutes north of Boca Raton, two hours south of Cocoa Beach, and 2.5 hours southwest of Orlando.

What to Bring

Dress for sun and water activities. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, a towel, a change of clothes, and drinking water. Bring your waterproof camera or waterproof phone case to capture photos while on the water. Hats and sun protection are also available at the Palm Beach Visitor Information & Adventure Center. Close-toed, flat shoes are required to participate in the Segway tour. The walking food tour happens rain or shine, so pack an umbrella just in case.

What to Expect

This is a fun, action-packed day with a mix of outdoor and indoor activities. Changes in weather are common, so it’s good to be prepared for both sun and rain.

Physical Demands

These activities require light to moderate physical exertion. Participants must be able to climb on and off of a jet ski, step onto a catamaran, and lower themselves onto a kayak or paddleboard. Segway riders must be able to stand upright for one hour.

Rules

For kayaking, children must be at least two years old. Children who are under 12 years of age or who are inexperienced must ride with an adult in a tandem kayak.

There is a weight limit of 275 pounds for Segway tour participants. The minimum age is 14 and participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

City-owned parking garages, located at 200 Banyan Boulevard and 333 Evernia Street, are recommended for parking in this area.
