There’s nothing better than sneaking in some history and education for your kids while you’re on a vacation and the Union Garrison events at Fort Clinch State Park in Amelia Island is the perfect place.

Explore the park March 2-3 and step back in time to experience life at the fort during the Civil War.

Located in the northeast corner of the state, Fort Clinch of Florida is one of the most well-preserved 19th Century forts in the entire country. During the Union Garrison events you can experience powder artillery demonstrations and even soldier drills.  I’ve always been fascinated with the blacksmiths – such amazing skill and effort in perfecting their craft.

With living historians throughout Fort Clinch State Park you can ask questions and get a true feel for the way soldiers and civilians of that era lived.
