The Renaissance World Golf Village Resort and Convention Center recently joined the ranks of an elite group of hotels and resorts.

The St. Augustine resort has been awarded AAA’s prestigious four-diamond rating for the first time.

To receive this special rating, a lodging property must offer “upscale and extraordinary” service and amenities.

While the resort is well-known for its world-class golf (check out Golf Insider Tim McDonald’s blog post, which includes a video, here), it’s just as well known for weddings, meetings, romantic getaways and family vacations.

The resort recently completed a $10 million renovation and it has also begun offering free transportation to and from historic downtown St. Augustine for its guests.

Featuring 301 rooms and 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Renaissance is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando.

There’s only one other four-diamond hotel in St. Augustine – the Casa Monica Hotel. For lists of all the AAA four- and five-diamond lodgings, as well as restaurants, in Florida, click here.
