In the fall of 2005, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science in Miami opened the original “Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches” exhibition.

Since then, it has toured three countries and has been seen by close to 2 million visitors along the way.

“Amazon Voyage” now has made its way back to Miami, welcoming visitors to experience hands-on activities, multimedia presentations, interactive computer stations, storytelling and live fish.

Some of the areas of the exhibit include:

Captain Mo’s Boat Area: Climb aboard the Victoria Amazonica, a full-sized riverboat modeled after the actual boats used to transport goods, scientists, locals and tourists down the river highway.

Piranha Area: Here's the place to learn about this fish (more than 30 species of piranhas can be dound in the Amazon River) and its prehistoric cousin, the megapiranha.

Flooded Forest Area: Enormous electric eels aren’t the only fish generating a big buzz. Are you brave enough to touch a device and zap yourself to feel how shocking a tiny eel’s charge really is? Also, learn about its cousin, the knife fish, a family of water creatures that communicates with electricity.

“Amazon Voyage” is a window to this diverse river and forest area, and the animals and plants that make up this unique environment.
