Indian River County Historical Society
The Indian River County Historical Society maintains two historic properties. Our business office is located in the original train station built by Henry Flagler about 1903. The building was moved to its current location at 2336 14th Ave in downtown Vero Beach. There is a museum attached which is open Monday-Friday from 10:00-3:00 for visitors. The second property is the Hallstrom House, located at 1723 Old Dixie Highway, SW, Vero Beach, FL. It was a pineapple plantation established by a Swedish immigrant, Axel Hallstrom. His daughter, Ruth, left it and 5 acres to the IRCHS when she died in 1999. It is open Monday-Friday from 1:00-4:00 for visitors to tour the home with its original furnishings. The IRCHS holds many community events which may be viewed on our website. We also partner with the new Vero Beach trolley to give historical tours twice a week in Indian River County beginning Oct 31, 2016.
