History Fort Lauderdale

Visit this graceful campus of historic buildings on the New River and be transported back to the early days of Fort Lauderdale. This open-air museum is the largest collection of historic buildings remaining on the New River. Admission to 3 museums is included in your tour:

History Museum housed in the 1905 New River Inn with rotating visual arts exhibits in 1st floor galleries. Explore Seminole, Military, Transportation, Archaeology and Pioneer History on the second floor. Meet the New River Artists' Coop with studio tours and live demonstrations on the third floor.

Experience the Pioneer House Museum set as if the family will return at any moment in 1907 for Sunday supper, with extensive antique furniture, kitchen, doll, and toy collections.

Then visit the Schoolhouse Museum which provides an 1899 school experience complete with period wooden desks and McGuffey readers.

Some walking is required for this museum tour. More extensive historic walking and boat tours are available.
