If you want to escape civilization, you can’t do better than Apollo Beach, a breathtaking sweep of sand that embraces everything natural.
Seven miles south of New Smyrna Beach, you won’t find cars driving on the beach here, or concessions renting beach umbrellas. There’s nothing resembling a T-shirt shop for miles.
It’s just the sound of the surf, windswept dunes, and warm sand between your toes. You don’t even need to wear a bathing suit; south of lot #5 is clothing optional.
