MainStreet DeLand's annual Florida Wildflower & Garden Festival gets underway at 9 a.m. March 23 with unique vendors, zoo animals, children's activities, and presentations and demonstrations by wildflower and gardening experts.
Vendors lining downtown's West Indiana Avenue will offer garden- and nature-related items, including wildflower seeds, plants, honey, yard art and planters, photos and books. Organizations such as the Florida Wildflower Foundation, UF-IFAS Master Gardeners and the Florida Native Plant Society will hand out free information and educational materials, and the Central Florida Zoo will have live animals on hand.
Gardening and wildflower-related presentations will be featured from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Athens Theater, 124 N. Florida Ave., adjoining West Indiana Avenue. There also will be workshops at Chess Park
A free shuttle with run throughout the day between the Wildflower & Garden Festival and the DeLand Outdoor Art Festival at nearby Earl Brown Park, which will feature 150 booths.
