    By Terry Gibson

About an hour from the Orlando International Airport, New Smyrna Beach in Florida is a paradise for anyone who loves salt water.

The town boasts the most consistent and one of the best surfing beaches on the Eastern Seaboard.

Offshore fishing opportunities include great bottom fishing and fishing for pelagic species. And inshore anglers enjoy a maze of mangrove and salt marsh habitats that teem with redfish, trout and flounder among other species. Explore a list of area guides and captains here.

When you’re done fishing, check the New Smyrna Beach Waterfront Loop, which encompasses the heart of New Smyrna Beach in Florida. The nearly six-mile NSB Waterfront Loop gets its name from the views offered of the Intracoastal Waterway, Indian River and Atlantic Ocean. Check out the Marine Discover Center—great fun for kids and adults.
