Oysterbones: Pet Shop & Supplies in Apalachicola, Florida

    By Carrie McLaren

During our recent visit to Apalachicola, we discovered a great store for animal lovers called Oysterbones.

Complete with artwork, gifts, pet supplies, and dog and cat toys, the store is also home to Oysterbones, a pet-friendly line of dog treats.

This unique store was a welcome surprise and we picked up quite a few gifts for family members, of both the two- and four-legged varieties.

The Oysterbones dog treats were reasonably priced and with mini-donut and flower-shaped treats, we decided to take home a few ‘Apalach’ fish-shaped cookies as a memento of our visit. Our dog loved the nice souvenir when we returned home. It was a great surprise upon our return home.

The entire town of Apalachicola was incredibly dog-friendly. We enjoyed seeing families dining at outdoor restaurants with their dogs alongside. And along the sidewalks, many shops had water dishes out front for thirsty pups. Oysterbones is just one of the many spots around town that welcomes four-legged family members.

Check out the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce’s listing of pet-friendly establishments around the city. If you’re traveling with your dog, be sure to check out the mini-dog park adjacent to Oysterbones. It’s a great spot for your furry friends to stretch their legs away from their leashes. There’s no need to leave your pets at home, bring them along and vacation in Apalachicola. They can have just as much fun as you and discover new places too!

INSIDER TIP: For dog-friendly lodging in Apalachicola, check out the Water Street Hotel & Marina’s pet-friendly suites and enjoy a vacation with your four-legged children, too.
