If anyone is planning to go to Florida to photograph birds and does not want to waste time, then head to the South and South East. Get all the information that you can before you leave and plan your route. A great books by Photo Traveler Publications www.phototraveler.com. Never leave home without them. Then make sure you visit each area not just once but at least twice. The birds are not always on time for your visit.For a great swamp air boat trip then it has to be the tour out of Air Boat tour- Lake Traford at Immokalee (North and east of Naples) This was a great trip. I cannot remember the exact name of the company but they are advertised in all the South West fliers. Take it late or early in the day for the best light. And keep your mouth closed when going through the mud areas or you will be having a lunch of bugs. But not a problem as they just bounce off you. A few the places not to be missed are, Ding Darling on Senibel Island, Corkscrew Swamp, Shark River, Royal Palm at Evergladed NP and Circle B Ranch reserve near Lakeland |
