Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail

Beginning at Big Lagoon State Park near Pensacola, extending around the Florida peninsula and Keys, and ending at Fort Clinch State Park near the Georgia border, the Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail (commonly referred to as The CT) is a 1,515-mile sea kayaking paradise. East Coast Greenway

The East Coast Greenway is a multi-use pathway for traffic-free travel connecting major cities along the eastern seaboard between Canada and Key West. The East Coast Greenway Alliance (ECGA) mobilizes resources to link existing trails and develops new trails to fill the gaps to form this "Urban Appalachian Trail." Florida boasts the longest portion of Greenway with the most miles of completed trail. Suwannee River Wilderness Trail (Upper)

The Suwannee Wilderness Trail provides a managed wilderness experience while educating visitors about protecting the natural, cultural and heritage resources in the Suwannee River Basin. Visitor opportunities extend outwards from the river to include recreational "hubs," recreational trails, parks, museums, cultural sites and other nature and heritage attractions in adjacent cities, towns and rural landscapes throughout the area. St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop

The St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop is forming through a five-county upper east-central region bounded north and south by St. Augustine, America’s oldest continuous city, and Titusville, gateway to the Kennedy Space Center, although the route itself is chiefly rural. The Loop further historically connects a St. Johns River site once visited by John James Audubon, and country museums with their collections of steamboats, lighthouse keeping, and catch-all Floridiana. Chipola River Paddling Trail

Beginning at the bridge on State Road 166 in Marianna, this scenic 51-mile trail flows through river swamps and hardwood forests. Limestone bluffs and caves, visible from the water, add a unique touch. Several shoals are present, especially during low water, and should be attempted by intermediate paddlers. Paddlers should take note of the shoal known as "Look and Tremble Falls" below the State Road 274 bridge and portage if necessary. The rivershed boasts 63 fresh water springs, more than any other in Northwest Florida.

General James A Van Fleet State Trail

The wildlife-rich Green Swamp is headwaters for some of Florida's most revered rivers - the Withlacoochee, Hillsborough, and Peace. It is also a fitting setting for one of Florida's most rural and scenic rail trails. Landscapes also include former citrus lands and cattle ranches. With only one curve in the entire trail, cyclists can choose to go slow or enjoy it at a brisk pace. The trail has excellent wildlife viewing opportunities between Green Pond Road and Bay Lake Road.

Fred Marquis Pinellas Trail

A unique linear park extending nearly 50 miles from St. Petersburg to Tarpon Springs, with great hiking, walking, rollerblading and biking.

Little Big Econ State Forest

Named one of the United State's most family-friendly hikes by the American Hiking Society, the Florida Trail's 4.7 mile Little Big Econ section is one any visitor to the Orlando area should seek out and enjoy. On this meandering route paralleling the Econlockhatchee River, you'll enjoy views of the river from the bluffs, lush stands of palm trees, and numerous bridge crossings over tributaries that feed the river. The forest also has 10 miles of equestrian trails.

West Orange Trail

For most of the route, this paved trail follows the route of the former Orange Belt Line through the old farming towns of Oakland, Winter Garden, Ocoee and Apopka. The Winter Garden Heritage Museum, housed in a former depot, tells the story of Winter Garden's past as a packing and shipping center for oranges, grapefruit, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce and other Central Florida crops. Trail users catch glimpses of Lake Apopka, a butterfly garden and they can stop for a refreshment at the outdoor cafes along the way. More »
