Picayune Strand State Forest

The forest is home to many unique species of flora and fauna as well as a multitude of recreational activities. Picayune Strand is part of the Everglades restoration project. Come and explore this exceptional state forest.  Ride on 22 miles of horse trails with equestrian camping area, or hike the 3.2-mile Sabal Palm Trail.

Directions :

No direct access to Picayune Strand from I-75. Best way, exit on C.R. 951 (Exit 101 from I-75), go 4.7 mi. north to Golden Gate Blvd., make a right on Golden Gate Blvd., and go approx. 8.8 mi. east to Everglades Blvd. Turn right on Everglades Blvd. and go south to the main entrance. To visit main office turn right on stop sign and go for approx. 1/2 mi. There is also access thru Janes Scenic Dr. from the east. From U.S. 41, go north on 29 and go thru Fakahatchee SP east.
