John D. MacArthur Beach State Park: Turtle Quest

This park is known for sea turtles. But the beach, water and wildlife are also big attractions. From walking the shoreline and nature trails to kayaking and fishing the lagoon, 438 acres of this barrier island are waiting to be explored.

In 2011, MacArthur Park provided nesting habitat to over 1,600 sea turtles, including the loggerhead and leatherback species.


One of the finest remaining examples of coastal maritime hammock in South Florida.
Provides a haven for several rare and endangered native tropical and coastal plant species.
The only state park in Palm Beach County, it covers 225 acres on land.
