Lake Wales Mainstreet is patterned after the National Trust for Historic Preservation National mainstreet program. It's purpose is to help strengthen the economic health of its Historic Downtown. As a public-private partnership that receives administrative support from the City of Lake Wales, Main Street utilizes the proven four-point method called the Main Street Approach.
