Fanning Springs State Park

The 200-acre Fanning Springs State Park features a beautiful spring nestled along the Suwannee River. The popular crystal clear 72-degree, year-round springs provides a great way to cool off on hot summer days. The springs are shallow in many areas and has very little current so it is generally safe for children. There are deeper areas in which older persons can also have fun. There is an area for canoe and kayak launching into the Suwannee River as well as picnicking, volleyball, a 2/3-mile-long hiking trail and birding opportunities. During the summer months the gazebo at end of the boardwalk is a great place to watch Sturgeon jumping out clear out of the water and fall back with a loud whack. Pets such as dogs and cats must be on a leash no longer thatn six feet long and are not allowed in the picnic, swimming or cabin areas. The cooler winter months are not nearly as busy as our summer and make for a quieter more peaceful opportunity to explore the park. Read Less
