Goodwood Museum & Gardens

Located in Tallahassee, Florida, Goodwood was one of the first properties in the State of Florida to be listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It began in the early 1830s as a corn and cotton plantation that ultimately encompassed 2,400 acres. In the 1920s the estate underwent major renovations, securing its place among the fine homes of the Country Estate era. Today, the estate totals 16 acres in the heart of Tallahassee and boasts 20 built features dating from ca. 1835 to 1925. Over 95% of the collection of artifacts have remained in the Main House since the middle of the 19th century, passed down from owner to owner. It has some of the oldest, frescoed ceilings remaining in the South. Time and again, we hear that Goodwood is as fine as or finer than house museums in Savannah, Charleston, Natchez and New Orleans. Visitors will also enjoy strolling Goodwood’s historic gardens and their breathtaking heirloom roses and the tens of thousands of daffodils planted in "Bulb" lawns, a very popular way to plant bulbs in the 1800s but rarely seen today.
