Tallahassee Museum

The Tallahassee Museum is located on 52 acres of scenic woodlands in Southwest Tallahassee bordering beautiful Lake Bradford. The city's oldest museum chronicles the history and heritage of north Florida and south Georgia. A key feature is the 1880s farmstead with live farm animals, a legacy garden and living-history demonstrations from spinning to cane-grinding. Historic structures also include Bellevue plantation house and quarters, Concord one-room schoolhouse, 1920s Seaboard Air Line Caboose (climb aboard!), Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, a gristmill and an historic commissary. Its natural habitat zoo features Florida panthers, red wolves, black bears, river otters, birds of prey and other native and rare wildlife. Up close Animal Encounters with wildlife are offered daily. Exotic animals are exhibited seasonally.  The all-new Tree to Tree Adventures (an outdoor zip line and adventure course) takes you high into the trees and zips you over the water features and animal life, as well as challenging you with fun outdoor games.  The Phipps Gallery presents exhibits of artistic and scholarly interest pertaining to regional history and heritage. The Education staff presents a vast array of public workshops and activities throughout the year. The Museum also offers a hands-on Discovery Center, Trail Break Cafe, Gift Shop and playground.
