I have been going on the Peace River on canoe/camping trips since the early 1980s. There is no business that can provide you with so much for an enjoyable trip as Canoe Outpost. I have used them for multiple day trips way upstream as well as short overnight trips with small children. Each year there are over 50 of us that take a Dads and kids trip using Canoe Outpost. For the price of canoe rentals, camping area, and transportation, you can not beat the service and opportunity that Canoe Outpost provides. I do a lot of kayaking/canoe trips on my own throughout north Florida, but love going back down to Arcadia and letting Canoe Outpost take care of the details. I don't think you can find a better organization in Florida to provide all that they do.

I've taken many canoe trips on many rivers in the midwest and southeastern US and Becky and the crew at Canoe Outpost are the best crew I've ever worked with. They are friendly, accomidating and do the extra little things to make sure we have a great time. I'd reccomend them to anyone.

I've been canoeing out Canoe Outpost (Peace river) since 1985. I have had groups of 70 canoes (lots of people!!) Many yrs I have two trips per yr. we always have a good time. The staff always goes out of their way to take care of us. We have never been treated bad!! I know we are not always the nicest group to move, handle or make happy but they always do it. It's a good time any best Pang for the Buck you can find I thank the Canoe Outpost and complete staff for all they have done for us. Joey Formoso

This year will be my 5th year using Canoe Outpost as my supplier of canoes and camping sites. Usally about 30 of us get together and create large flotillas and just relax the day away. I can't recommend this outfit enough as it is always staffed well amd always friendly. Each year we bring a tree to plant adding back to nature. One year the river was very low but this afforded us the opportunity to sift for pre-historic shark teeth. Very cool. See you on the Peace River March 31st and April 1st.

If you want great outdoor enjoyment, you want to canoe the Peace River. I have been using the Canoe Outpost for 7yrs (will be 8th next week), and always had a pleasant experience. Every year, regardless of how many paddlers, the trip is GREAT! Becky, Katie, and staff are friendly and professional, making it hard to want to hold an annual event anywhere else!

@ Barbara - Sorry, can't buy your story. I've been using the Canoe Outpost for 25 years and never, repeat NEVER had a single bad experience with any of the staff or owner of this wonderful outfitter. I referred many new customers to the Outpost and all agree that the Outpost runs a very friendly staff that goes over and beyond to make sure the ccamping experience is enjoyed by all. I can only surmise buy your written statement that you must have showed up as the buses were getting ready to depart. Had you been there on time, you would have packed your gear with the rest of the customers. Not everything runs on "Barbara Time". I imagine the rest of the customers were quite thankful they did not have to share the bus with you after your foul-mouthed response. You got your money back AND referred to a competitor, how much more do you expect?! Canoe Outpost is a top notch outfitter, one I plan on using and referring others to for years to come.

This comment is directed to Barbara who posted the negative comment about Canoe Outpost. First, it is a shame that this is even having to be discussed. Barbara you have only been to Canoe Outpost once and admittedly decided to curse out the owner because she was trying to take care of her customers who followed the rules and were on time. Your selfish actions were delaying others for no reason. I have enjoyed the river since I was a boyscout 40 years ago. I started using the Canoe Outpost when they opened and have NEVER had one incident! The opposite is true. The owners and staff have bent over backwards to accomodate my family and group of over 20 people for years and years. I think you should remove your comment because you know the event was your fault. You used a competitor and had a good time, good for you. Don't try to hurt good hard working people and a well run business due to your actions. Do the right thing!!

Love the Peace River and had a great time thanks to Canoe Outpost. This is an ideal vacation away from the ordinary and a way for friends and family to spend quality time with each other and nature. Bringing my 5 year old son and wife this weekend to share an experience I will always put towards the top of my list of fun times. Should be included on everyone's bucket list - Canoe the Peace via the Canoe Outpost!

I have used the Canoe Outpost-Peace River amenities several times, from the slowest time of the year to the busiest (this past spring break). I have always been satisfied with the great service they extend to their customers. Our group had a great time like always. This year we had five families that had never been there, and they are already asking me, when are we going back. Thanks again and hope to see you soon. Sincerely, Duniesky Concepcion Peace Paddler

I have visited the peace river as a child, a teenager, and now for the past 11 years, I take annual trips with my friends to the river. While there are other ways to enjoy the river, Canoe Outpost has been our preferred venue to rent equipment and experience the river. Each year they continue make our job of getting on and off the river hassle free, equipment and safety supplies are always in check, and we continue to come back year after year. Great Job Canoe Outpost! Gert

2012 will be our 11th Annual trip with Canoe Outpost, and we've had nothing but exceptional service since the beginning. Our group is typically at least 20 people, and always an overnight, 19 mile trip. The staff that I've dealt with, Katie, Beth & Becky, have always been pleasant and knowledgeable in setting up our reservation and getting us on the river. I like their set up because you park your car at the bottom of the river where you return the canoe (no waiting on another bus trip) It's an absolute hastle-free trip, and the one I look forward to most through out the year. The only way you couldn't have a good time w/ Canoe Outpost, is for you to screw it up! Looking forward to a lifetime of canoing with this organization. SF

The Bright Family has been paddling the Peace River with the Canoe Outpost for over 15 years. We love the River and have always had good experiences. Just spent last weekend there with the whole gang and had a super fantastic time. My only complaint would be the neighbor across the rivers generator noise. But, thats not the Outpost's fault. I think if you are not prepared to camp rustic style, then stay at the KOA. Maybe that neighbor should consider solar power.

My family and I have been canoeing and camping on the Peace River with the Canoe Outpost for about 15 years now. Our experiences have been nothing less than outstanding every time we visit Becky, Katie, and the entire Outpost crew. We have turned on our family and friends to the Outpost and have even started an “annual” trip that we organize as kind of a reunion every February. That trip has grown from 10 to 40 people including friends that come down from Michigan just for this trip! It blows my mind that someone so crude as to admit she cursed out Becky would then take to the web to try and hurt this family orientated business. Muttered means to “Say something in a low or barely audible voice” but yet Becky heard you say this “two letter profanity” as she drove away on her golf cart??? Pretty obvious that the responsibility in this incident falls on you based on the way you are downplaying your role. Frankly, I think it shows Becky’s character to have even offered you a refund! Anyway, get to the Canoe Outpost as quickly as you can. Bring your entire family and enjoy the great outdoors! I guarantee you will have an awesome time! P.S. take your time and enjoy the stars at night. There is so little ambient light that you feel like you can literally reach out and grab them!

i have been going to Canoe Outpost for about 5 years now and the experience has been amazing! every year i try to bring new people so they can see what an amazing get away this is. the staff memebers are nothing but helpful and Becky herself will help you with all their needs. i have always had a great experience here and the only thing i can complain about is the porter pottys that need to be cleaned on the weekends but other than that like i said the experience is great. our group grows thru the years and we always have a pleasent and amazing time. they dont call it peace river for no reason!

I have been using the Canoe Outpost since 1981. The owner and employees that work at the Outpost have always been extremely courteous and helpful to me. I cannot think of anything negative to say about this business. Take a trip with them. You will enjoy it.

Every year I am part of a large group (100+)who love to get together and spend some quality time..Young and old. Becky and her staff are always accomodating. Even with our large group, everything seems to run seamlessly. Sit back, relax and enjoy your weekend with family and friends using Canoe Outpost!

The past four years my environmental club has enjoyed paddling down the Peace Rive, come rain or shine. The staff and Becky are always the most helpful. The campsites and canoes are always clean and in working order. We have nothing but fond memories of Peace River Canoe Outpost and will continue to canoe with Canoe Outpost. THANKS!!!!

I have been going to Peace River for almost 20 years, and always have a great trip. Becky and her employees always take great care of us, hauling our gear to the campsite, driving us up to our drop off point, and making sure we all make it back on time. Whether it is a group of 25 people, or just four, first time campers or veterans, Canoe Outpost was always extremely accommodating. I would recommend this trip to all of my friends and family who are looking to get away from it all for a few days.

In all of our years with Canoe Outpost (and there have been many!) we have had nothing but the best experience with Becky and all her staff. Everyone has always been accommodating from the initial reservation to hitting the road back home. I am all for roughing it but have to admit that the service to tote my gear in and out has made this trip that much more fun. Allowing us to not worry about tipping and just to sit back and enjoy the surrounding, taking your time to get to camp. If you have no idea what to expect then you really need to do your homework and ask. I found the website and talking to staff ahead of time most effective in answering questions if I didn’t already know from my experience, to help shed light for the new comers that came this year with us. Every trip between kid trip or adult trip, we have nothing but great memories. Our recent trip this past weekend proved to be one of the best yet! We are already planning on an adult for the near future…… Oh and who ever thinks that camping on the Peace River is a place for a generator then you need to just get to a hotel. No one wants to hear that in the middle of the night. It is called the “Peace River” and I would rather hear the sounds of nature thank you very much!

I find it very hard to believe someone has anything negative to say about the Canoe Outpost business or its customer relations. I am a teacher who has been camping with Canoe Outpost on an annual basis since 1995. Our crew always gets top notch treatment and I have never seen anything but the most kind and personable treatment from all staff. They have always gone above and beyond to make our trip a success. For someone to go out of their way to say negative things about this company or its staff after trying to apologize for their own inappropriate actions is the type of person that is not welcomed on this river in the first place. If you were truly sorry for your own actions why would you not accept the reponsibility of your own actions rather than go on websites to negatively harrass a business that is trying to get by in the tough economy these days...canoe outpost has a strong following and returning customers for a reason...and it certainly has nothing to do with meeting people like Barbara. Quite the opposite in my experiences on this wonderful river and in dealing with such a fantastic staff and fellow paddlers.

First, directed towards Barbara's comments. There MUST be more to this story than you are telling! We have been visiting Canoe Outpost for many years! This year we had 166 people in our group! Becky and the staff are ALWAYS helpful and accomodating to everyone! We even had an incident in the middle of the night and one of our campers had to go to the emergency room and Becky drove him back to the campsite at 3am! Our kids look forward to this trip every year and the adults have as much fun as the kids! Guess it is true, there is always a bad apple in the bunch and Barbara...you are it!

I just wanted to say that I have been a life long paddler at peace river. When I was young I came with the boy scouts, when my son was 5 I took him for his first time, and just this past weekend my little 3 year old girl got to experience the pleasure of peace river. This weekend was probly the most fun we have ever had, us and 8 other families went a total of 35 of us. Canoe Outpost could not have been better hosts for us. We got to check in at 7am, everyone paid there was a slight mix up with one card but they help solve that quickly. They brought the trailer for our gear right over after we parked so we could start loading it and get out on time. 8am on the dot, the bus pulled up and we loaded it up and we off. This has become a tradition now in our family and I look forward to many more years with Canoe Outpost and Peace River.

Canoe Outpost-Peace River and it's staff regrets the above incident but felt it was appropriate to return the above commenter's money and ask her to leave our facility. As a family-oriented business, we do not tolerate the use of the F-word directed towards any member of our staff or used on our grounds (more than once) especially when other guests are present including a Boy Scout Troop waiting to depart.

Our unfortunate experience with Canoe Outpost occurred in Arcadia, Florida. Basically, the problem was with the owner, Becky Bragg. Her interpersonal communication skills leave a LOT to be desired. Actually she is devoid of them. And this observation/experience was corraborated by her staff who offered apologies to us for her unacceptable behavior. Having never been canoeing like this before, we were unfamiliar with the routine, therefore we were not sure what to do after registering as far as where to put our gear to be transported to the input site. After registering and waiting for further direction, this really rough-looking woman comes riding around the parking area in a golf cart screaming orders like an army sargeant - LITERALLY! When we asked for further direction, she screeches to a halt in her cart and agitatedly says, "Well, where are you going?!" She repeatedly kept pointing to her watch saying the buses should have left 15 minutes prior and we were holding things up. Not knowing she was the "Boss Lady," I requested to know who the lady was that was screaming at everyone and a staff member apologetically said that was the boss. I approached the "Boss Lady" to vent my displeasure with the manner in which she was speaking. Her response was anything but congenial, being extremely rude. Now, here is where I made the mistake...as she was whirling away in her cart, I muttered an exasperated two word profanity which unfortunately she overheard. At that point she screamed for everyone to hear that she wanted us off her property and to go collect our money back while she was willing to give it back. I apologized for my poor response and momentary lack of emotional intelligence and asked her to reconsider, but she was firm. Then the blessing...the staff member returning our money referred us to "Canoe Safari" outfitter just down the road. Our trip from that point on was the best ever. I appreciate this opportunity to vent this unfortunate experience and to advise others about it. Apparently this was not an isolated incident based on what we heard from her staff members as well as the porfessional man who owns/operates the other canoe outpost. I cannot believe this woman can treat people like this and get away with it. I feel compelled to share our story. Needless to say, we will NOT be going back to this outpost. Thank you.
