On May 26th and 27th, Maharaj Tennis along with Omni Amelia Island Plantation will be conducting adult and junior tennis events and then donating 100% of the proceeds to the ThanksUSA initiative. “Tennis Thanks the Troops” is a United States Professional Tennis Association fund raiser to assist ThanksUSA in funding scholarships for the families of military men and women. As part of this national initiative, tennis professionals across the country are being asked to donate their time over the Memorial Day weekend by hosting clinics and/or events. Donations will be accepted from the participants and then given to ThanksUSA. Since its inception in 2006, ThanksUSA has awarded 2,500 scholarships totaling nearly $7.5 million dollars. Adult Mixed Doubles Round Robin May 26 11am-1pm Racquet Park - Omni Amelia Island Plantation 7.0 and 8.0 Divisions Tennis professionals Vishnu Maharaj and Scott Coleborne will be there to join in play. Requested Minimum Donation of $10 per person. Junior Tennis Drill and Play May 27 Noon -2pm City Courts On court drills and hitting for prizes. 4th ANNUAL INDEPENDENCE 5K – 8am 1M Youth Fun Run – 9am Start and finish at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation’s Racquet Park parking lot, located next to The Verandah Restaurant, and meander through the beautiful, tree-canopied resort, located at 6800 First Coast Highway.Race, Run or Walk - participant’s choice. AWARDS Awards will be given out to the top 3 male and female winners in each age category. PRE-REGISTRATION All Pre-registered participants will receive one FREE race T-shirt!
