FREE BIKES CANOES KAYAKS BBQ GRILLS FOR ALL GUESTS TO ENJOY !

The Faraway Inn is set within a quiet, attractive residential area away from traffic and nightlife, but within a short 5 minute walk past Victorian and traditional Cracker homes to restaurants, convenience stores, shops, boat launches, the public beach and the city dock. Faraway Inn was built in the early 1950's on the original site of the 19th Century Eagle Pencil Company Cedar Mill.

All accommodations are ground floor, spread out over half of a city block of shaded flowered gardens. Standard items in each unit include; refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, two pre-packaged coffees with condiments, toaster, alarm clock, radio/cd player, cable tv, vcr, linens, towels, dishware, cookware. Cottages and efficiencies are equipped with stove/oven. Hot plates are available for units without stoves.

There are many wonderful local restaurants. Enjoy fresh locally caught seafood and aquacultured clams daily. Most restaurants are in walking distance of our Inn, so after dinner you can stroll the dock and walk leisurely alongside the Gulf to your not-so-Faraway home. The night sky offers tremendous stargazing possibilities.

We welcome responsible pet owners and well-behaved pets. No size restrictions for dogs, we love them all big and small. Other companion animals like kitty cats and birds are welcome. We have had a few lizards and hamsters too. Pets are allowed on most beaches and in some outdoor seating restaurants.

Cedar Key is a city on a group of islands located 50 miles southwest of I-75 at Gainesville, Florida, via State Road 24, three miles out into the Gulf of Mexico, accessible by bridges. The surrounding barrier islands make up the Cedar Key National Wildlife Refuge. The Wacassassa Bay State Preserve, the Cedar Key Scrub State Preserve and the Lower Suwannee Preserve bound them on the mainland.
