Focuses on the unique heritage of this state. Through exhibits, educational programs, research, and its collections, the museum interprets Florida's development and the roles Floridians have played in state, national and international events. The permanent exhibits focus on the social and cultural history of the state and range from prehistoric Florida through the 20th century. Highlights include the skeleton of a mastodon, a life-size diorama of early Floridians on the St. Johns River, authentic Spanish gold and silver coins, a Civil War campsite, a Tin Can Camper, the recreated front portion of a Florida steamboat, and original artifacts from World War II. Museum publications include a quarterly newsletter, site brochures and exhibit rack cards.  The online museum calendar can be found on their website.
