Located on the banks of the scenic and unique Santa Fe River, a tributary of the Suwannee River. Within O'Leno, the Santa Fe disappears and flows underground for more than three miles before it again becomes a surface stream at the River Rise. Fishing is allowed along the banks of the river (except in the swimming area) and in any of the many sinkhole ponds throughout the park. You may also launch a canoe (when the river is high enough) and fish upstream from the picnic area. Fish commonly caught are bass, brim and catfish. Read Less

Property Response

Hi Elizabeth,\r\nI\'m so glad to hear that you are interested in renting our group camp for your canoe group. We love to see people come out and enjoy the beautiful rivers in our area.\r\nWe do have a large group that comes to the park annually in February. Historically they come from early to mid February. Reservations can only be made one year to the day in advance, so I am unable to tell you at this time what dates are available. You will need to choose what dates you plan to come in 2013 and call the ranger station at 386-454-1853 on the day that you plan to arrive a year in advance to make your reservations.\r\nAlthough canoeing in this area is wonderful year round, canoeing within the park can sometimes be tricky. It all depends upon the water levels in the park which are dependent on rainfall. If there is a high enough water level to allow canoeing in the park, visitors are allowed to canoe upstream only from the canoe launch due to historic sites and the river sink located down stream. Canoe launching is prohibited at River Rise itself, but it is a beautiful destination if you put in at public boat ramps down stream and paddle up to it.\r\nI hope that this information is helpful and look forward to seeing you in 2013.\r\nSincerely, \r\nCindy Preston\r\nPark Services Specialist\r\nO\'Leno State Park

I would like to know what dates in February that cabins are available for rent for a large canoe group. I know you usually have a reinactment in that month but wondered if other days are available. I'm looking for Feb. of 2013.
