Baseball's Latin Roots

Baseball roots run deep throughout Latin America and many of today's star players hail from countries such as Cuba, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. The new Miami Marlins reflect the growing influence of Latinos in baseball. The very first game ever played in their new stadium featured two prep schools, Belen and Columbus, whose family ties in baseball go back generations throughout the Latin community.
