I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

Wow, it's been a busy couple of weeks! Let's see – I've been out at Cacheapalooza 6 at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Hobe Sound, stopped in at Fisheating Creek Outpost in Palmdale (missed Gatorama on this trip, but will be back) and hung out for a while in Venice. I'm now over in Titusville all week at the Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival, where there is so much going on that it's hard to even begin to talk about it all. Whew!
Let's refocus and get back to Fisheating Creek, shall we? Here's the deal: I love to people watch. It's always neat to see people outside doing what they like to do, whether it's birding, hiking, camping – or in the case of Fisheating Creek recently, kayaking and canoeing. I took a break from driving, and sat on the edge of the creek and watched the boats go by for a while. The water is low, which means folks can only take short trips on the creek right now, but in the spring, this is a must-do paddling destination. Go there, set up camp at Fisheating Creek Outpost and spend a few days in one of the most scenic and wild places in the state. Believe me, you are going to have a great time.
I'll talk more about Fisheating Creek Outpost in late March, when my wife and I plan to go back and spend a few days in the woods and on the water. You might want to go ahead and make your plans to head down there, too! For more information, check out www.fisheatingcreekoutpost.com and give them a like on Facebook.
