I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

Here in Florida, there's a season for everything. Right now, nature festivals and outdoor events are in full swing, and plenty of folks are enjoying the outdoors!
The 6th Annual Southwest Florida Nature Festival is Jan. 15-17, and activities include guided field trips, birding seminars and a native plant sale. There's plenty to do, and it's a great weekend outing for the whole family. Field trip locations will be held in Big Cypress National Preserve, Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Naples Botanical Garden and several other wild and scenic locations.
The event is held at Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Make sure you visit www.rookerybay.org for admission and field-trip fees and a complete schedule of events. Have fun in Southwest Florida!
