I'm a freelance writer and videographer, and spend most of my days exploring Florida's natural wonders from a kayak, a bike or rambling down a hiking trail. A Florida native living in Citrus County, you'll often find me watching the boats go by on the Homosassa River. I'm always sharing stories, photos and videos, so follow along and together we'll discover Florida's natural treasures.

It's adventure racing time again!
If you haven't made plans (there are a lot of events going on right now), come on over to the Croom tract of the Withlacoochee State Forest and take part in the 8-hour Croom Crusher or the 2-3 hour Croom Crusher adventure race. The event is put on by the West Central Florida Adventure Racing Club (WeCeFAR), and starts at the Nobleton Canoe Outpost.
This is one of my favorite races of the year, and there's always a great turnout. The WeCeFAR folks put on a great event and are top-notch adventure racers themselves. Oh, it doesn't hurt that the race takes place, well, practically in my backyard. I've lived near this area for a long time, and my most frequented hiking and biking trails are right here. Lucky me!
Here's a video from last year's event, and if you are ready to race, visit www.wecefar.com for all the specifics and directions. Enjoy!
